Job Fair Connects Alumni and Schools

March 30, 2007

Over 150 graduating seniors and alumni of The School of Education attended the Education Interview Day and Job Fair on March 22, 2007 on the Queens campus. Council Hall buzzed with activity as students and alumni interacted with recruiters to discuss available positions in one-on-one interviews and informal meetings. Counselors from the Career Center were also present to assist job-seekers and those looking to improve their current vocation.

Student and alumni resumes, submitted prior to the event, were reviewed by more than 15 participating schools and school districts, including the New York City Department of Education, the Archdiocese of New York, and the Glen Cove and Roosevelt school districts. Selected candidates were interviewed and, later in the afternoon, other attendees candidly engaged with prospective employers during the open recruitment portion of the event.

“There is nothing more valuable than our careers and the hunt for potential employment,” explained William Lipson, Assistant Director, Alumni Relations, The School of Education, of the University’s commitment to meeting alumni needs. “The job fair is an opportunity for alumni to pursue their careers in a positive direction.”

This annual event, jointly sponsored by The School of Education, Career Center and Office of Alumni Relations, is just one of the many ways in which alumni continue to receive value for their education and reconnect with alma mater. For more networking opportunities, check the event calendar.
