You are about to move into a new home. We welcome you to
St. John’s University Manhattan Campus. Of course you will
need to bring necessities such as clothing and toiletries, and
other things to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We
hope that the lists below will help you decide what to bring and
what not to bring.
All rooms are furnished with a single bed, desk, chair,
bookshelves, lamp, and a wardrobe closet. All rooms are
carpeted and have window blinds and a telephone jack.
Residents are responsible for providing their own telephone
service, which is to be set up when you arrive on campus.
Ideas of what to Bring
- Bed sheets/Blankets/Pillows (Note: beds are extra long)
- Towels
- Toiletries (and a shower caddy to tote them to & from the
bathroom)
- Laundry supplies (bag/basket, quarters, detergent)
- Needle and thread
- Iron/Ironing board
- Closet hangers
- Alarm clock
- Desk/table lamp (No halogens)
- Phone
- Stereo
- Power strip
- Extension cord
- Stationary & stamps
- Raincoat
- Camera
- Plants
- Posters/Pictures (Note: No holes are to be made in the
walls)
- School supplies (paper, stapler, calculator, etc.)
- You may bring a 2.0 amp refrigerator or rent one upon
arrival
What Not to Bring
(These items are not permitted in the residence hall.)
- Cooking appliances such as microwaves
- Halogen lamps
- Space heaters (residences are fully heated
- Air conditioners (residences are fully air conditioned)
- Candles
- Pets of any kind
- Large personal furniture
- Electric blankets
