Academic Lecture Series: Educating a Global Society
Established in the fall 2006, the Academic Lecture Series (ALS) focus on topics relevant to the St. John’s University mission as well as the global society in the fields of science, health care, religion, education, media, technology, politics, business, culture and the arts. The series aims to cultivate academic discourse outside of the classroom and foster a sense of community dedicated to academic excellence and social responsibility. Past notable speakers in the series included, Mitch Albom, Wyclef Jean, Frances Mayes, Lisa Leslie-Lockwood, Michael Eric Dyson and Katharine Weber.
