Established in the fall 2006, the Academic Lecture Series
focuses on topics relevant to the St. John’s University mission and
the global society in the fields of science, health care, religion,
education, media, technology, politics, business, culture and the
arts. The series aims to cultivate academic discourse outside
of the classroom and foster a sense of community dedicated to
academic excellence and social responsibility. Some of the
notable speakers that participated in the series, just to name a
few were Dr. Cornell West, Gideon Yago, Dr. Oliver Sacks, Amir
Dossa, Frances Mayes and Gene Kilbourne.
