Join us for a very special talk with John Perkins, activist and
author. He is best known for his 2004 New York Times
bestseller, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, which focuses on
the exploitation of third-world countries. His second book,
The Secret History of the American Empire, was published in
2007.
Perkins spent 10 years of his life as an economic hit man
for Chas T. Main, a Boston-based strategic-consulting
firm allegedly involved in helping U.S. intelligence agencies
blackmail foreign leaders into aligning with U.S. foreign
policy.
After leaving his post at the firm, Perkins founded an independent
company, which he sold in the late 1980s. Now he devotes his
time to writing and working with two non-profit organizations in
Ecuador which he founded, Dream Change and the Pachamama
Alliance.
Perkins' books will be available at the St. John's Bookstore, as
well as during the lecture. For a summary of his best-selling
