In response to requests from many superintendents in Nassau and
Suffolk counties outlining the needs of their teachers and school
building leaders, The School of Education at St. John’s University
is extending several main campus degree programs to the Oakdale
location.
Reflecting the superintendents’ concerns that every teacher and
administrator gain information and learn about new strategies for
working with diverse populations and children with special needs in
their schools, each degree contains four core courses (12) credits
in the areas of bilingual and second language learners, literacy,
culturally diverse learners and exceptional learners. The remainder
of the degree requires an additional 21 credits within the area of
specialization. Teachers and administrators who do not choose to
enter a degree program may register for one or more of the core
courses independently.
To meet the challenges of the schools still further, The School
of Education is offering a Superintendent’s Scholarship to every
student matriculating within one of the programs.
Upon presentation of an application for admission signed either
by your school superintendent or building principal and meeting the
entrance requirements for graduate study at St. John’s, tuition
will be $610 per credit.*
These programs all lead to professional certification.
