Dance Team Coach and Support Group Coordinator Christine
McCarton has been chosen as one of Long Island Business News’ 40
rising stars under the age of 40. A steering committee selects the
group based on such criteria as business accomplishments and
community involvement and the winners are honored at an award
breakfast and highlighted in an LIBN pull-out section. The
breakfast historically attracts about 600 and features a prominent
business or government leader.
Christine McCarton joined Chernoff Diamond, Long Island’s
largest benefits consulting firm in March of 1995. McCarton was
promoted to Vice President in 2003 and is responsible for managing
a team of benefits consultants that provide strategic benefits
consulting advice to local and national clients for the firm’s
three offices in Garden City, Manhattan, and Roseland, New
Jersey.
Along with McCarton’s benefits consulting responsibilities she
is also the head coach of the nationally ranked St. John’s
University Dance Team. In January 2005, McCarton led the St. John’s
Dance Team to the Universal Dance Association College Nationals
where they placed third in the country among NCAA Division 1 teams.
This was the highest ranking in Dance Team history of St. John’s
University and the first time the dance team’s performance was
televised on ESPN.
McCarton is also a member of the Long Island Elite, an
organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of
Long Island’s business professionals under the age of 40.
Through her efforts with Chernoff Diamond and St. John’s
University, McCarton is involved with many fundraising activities
including the Breast Cancer Walk, Special Olympics, Pet Peeves, St.
John’s Bread and Life, HeartShare, Center for Developmental
Disabilities and the Foundation for Sight and Sound.
