Required Adjunct Faculty Training

October 13, 2017

Thank you very much for your service to St. John’s University.   I write to you today to advise you that all St. John’s University adjunct faculty members are required to complete selected training programs that are either mandated by law or deemed legally necessary to protect the University. You will notice that one program is new, Title IX Reporting and Responding to Sexual Assault on Campus.  As an adjunct faculty at St. John's University, you are required to report all Title IX violations of sex-based discrimination and sexual harassment, including sexual assault, to the Title IX Coordinator.  By participating in this training, you will learn about this requirement and help to ensure that all students are provided a safe and comfortable learning environment.

The four important online programs that you are asked to complete include:

  1. Active Shooter Preparedness
  2. Emergency Readiness and Identifying and Responding to Students in Distress
  3. Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Prevention
  4. Title IX: Reporting and Responding to Sexual Assault on Campus (Haven for Faculty and Staff) - NEW for 2017

If you have completed an online session or attended a classroom version of any of the programs, and it is noted in your training profile, you are compliant for that program. You must complete each program only once as an adjunct faculty member.  To determine your status, please access your training history by following the instructions listed at the end of the announcement.

If you have not already done so, you are required to complete all four online programs within the next 45 days by reviewing the materials, videos, and associated policies provided in this announcement.  Please be sure to complete the Acknowledgement Forms associated with both the Active Shooter and Emergency Readiness programs to ensure credit is received for completing the training.   For both Sexual Harassment and Title IX, the online programs will record your completion upon submission of the quizzes associated with the respective programs.
