Flu Shot Clinic Exceeds Expectations

October 3, 2017

On September 20, the Employee Benefits Department, in conjunction with Rite Aid Pharmacy, conducted the first free flu shot clinic for employees on the Queens campus who are covered under a St. John’s University medical plan. Two St. John’s alumni of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, who are employed by the Rite Aid Corporation, volunteered their time to administer the inoculations.

We are happy to report that the turnout exceeded expectations—with a total of 141 flu shots administered! The feedback was very positive: employees were pleased with how fast, easy, and convenient it was, and we received many requests to offer the clinic again next year. We hope to expand the program to both the Staten Island and Manhattan campuses.

The flu affects millions of people each year. A flu vaccine is your best defense. Stay healthy and schedule your flu vaccine today! CDC Flu Prevention provides more information on how you can protect yourself from germs like the flu.

A big thanks to Rite Aid and our alumni for their time and service. The Employee Benefits Department is here to serve our employees. If you were not able to join us on September 20 and would like to receive a vaccine, please click here
