There’s no doubt about it: the resurgent
Red Storm has made college basketball relevant once again in New
York City.
With its
impressive 89-72 victory over No. 9 Connecticut this week, St.
John’s has now beaten four top-15 teams at the World’s Most Famous
Arena. Led by
Dwight Hardy’s career-high 33 points and a strong showing from
D.J. Kennedy, the Storm dominated the Huskies and sent shockwaves
through the NCAA.
The Johnnies’ stifling defense held UCONN to a dismal shooting
percentage and allowed the Storm to jump out to a double-digit
lead. St. John’s never looked back, as Hardy exploded in the second
half with a flurry of three pointers and slashing drives to the
basket.
Head Coach Steve Lavin has led the Red Storm to an impressive
6-1 record at Madison Square Garden and a No. 22 ranking in the RPI
(ratings percentage index) national standings. The student section
is louder than ever, with fans proudly holding “LAVINWOOD” signs in
appreciation of the new coach.
Be sure to get in on the excitement while you still can! There
are a number of games left before March madness begins, and you
definitely don’t want to miss out on any of the action. Pick up tickets to
upcoming Red Storm games and support the Johnnies as they look to
keep up their winning ways.
Also check out our
pre-game receptions, which feature appetizers, drinks and
appearances by Red Storm legends. Our next event will take place on
Saturday, February 26 at Villanova, and our next home reception
will be held on Saturday, March 5 prior to the game against
University of South Florida.
St. John’s next game will be this Sunday at Cincinnati at 12
p.m. and will be broadcast on MSG network.
