Alumni and current students joined together at St. Thomas More
Church in December to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the St.
John’s University Mixed Chorus.
The event featured over 100 past and present members singing
hymns and leading prayer before the packed church, culminating in a
rousing performance of the “Hallelujah Chorus.” Clark K. Oler, Jr.,
Director of the University Mixed Chorus, conducted the ensemble
throughout the evening.
“Seeing so many St. John’s singers, both alumni and students,
perform together at one time was wonderful,” said Joann P. Trimarco
’71Ed. “This night was truly an unforgettable experience.”
After the service, the centennial celebration continued at a
reunion dinner in the St. John’s School of Law.
“I was so happy to be a part of what I hope will become a new
tradition here at St. John’s,” said Clare M. Byrne ’76C, ’80MBA,
’06MLS. “It was so awesome to participate in this event.”
The celebration was planned by the St. John’s University Chorus
Reunion Committee, consisting of alumni, faculty and
administrators, and headed by committee chair Joseph R. Gagliano,
Jr. ’82C, ’85L. The group hopes to make this an annual event in the
