There are many ways to enjoy a beautiful summer evening, and one
of the most popular is to gather with friends at a local minor
league baseball game. The national pastime has always been part of
the American tradition, and so when the
Northern New Jersey Alumni Chapter hosted a gathering at a game
between the New Jersey Jackals and the Sussex Skyhawks on Tuesday,
June 29, 2010, alumni and friends were eager to be there.
“
There’s always such a strong feeling of family whenever
our alumni get together,” noted Nicholas A. Legakis ’97SVC, ’07MPS,
Director of Institutional Advancement for the Staten Island campus.
“No matter where we are or what we’re doing, the shared connection
to St. John’s is what makes these events extra special.”
It was a perfect evening for the game as fans enjoyed the beautiful
weather at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey, home of
the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League. To add to the evening,
everyone in attendance received a voucher for items at the Jackals’
concession stand.
“It was another exciting night spent with good friends, sharing
good times and good laughs,” remarked Rosanne Manganelli ’92NDC.
“It is such a great way for us to stay connected.”
Alumni appreciated the opportunity to bring their families to an
enjoyable St. John’s event while mingling and networking with other
local members of their University family.
“This is a really fun family event,” said Rosanna Mangone
’89SVC. “Seeing the Jackals with my family and other St. John’s
alumni is a great way to kick off the summer. We’re all looking
forward to the Meadowland races and many more Northern Jersey
events!”
"What a terrific night out," agreed Andre Emont ’79P, ’84GP.
