Westchester Alumni Help Accepted Students
March 30, 2009
A group of alumni met with Westchester area parents and students
who have recently been accepted to St. John’s University at the
Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY on Thursday, March 26. Alumni
joined representatives from the University to give students their
perspective on the value of a St. John’s degree and share about
their own student experiences to help these high school seniors
with the often difficult decision of selecting which college to
attend in the fall.

University
representatives from the offices of Admissions and Financial Aid
welcomed attendees and discussed the basics of what to expect from
and how to pay for a college education. Current student Douglas
Cipolla '12Ed was also in attendance to tell students about his
experience as a freshman at St. John’s and share the value of the
Discover New York program, one of several areas of study that are
unique to the University.
Alumni speakers Michael Ragusa '94SVC and Joseph Milano '74CBA
spoke candidly about how St. John’s assisted them in their lives
and impacted them as professionals and individuals. Each spoke
about the challenges they faced as students and how the programs,
classes, financial aid and extra-curricular activities gave them
exactly what they needed to become successful professionals in the
New York area.
The event was a success, as alumni were able to address concerns
of students and their families and help them come one step closer
to choosing the right college.
