A group of more than 60 alumni and students gathered for the
Alumni Insider’s View…Communications Connection on Wednesday, March
18, 2009 at the Staten Island campus.

Students
were engaged by three alumni professionals within the
Communications industry, Tom Cosentino '83SVC, President, iMedia
Public Relations, Rosanne Ragone '06CPS Account Associate, Publicis
Consultants|PR and Christina Griffo '06CPS, '08MBA, Marketing
Manager, PR Newswire. Consentino gave attendees an informative
introduction to the field of Public Relations and Ragone and Griffo
shared accounts of their experiences in graduate school and how
coursework at St. John’s University impacted their respective
careers.
Following the alumni presentations, students had the opportunity
to personally meet and speak with alumni in a networking reception
for the remainder of the evening.
Alumni were happy to share their expertise with the
up-and-coming young professionals who hope to one day follow in
their footsteps. “It’s encouraging to see students who desire to
enter my profession and know what to expect,” remarked Consentino.
“It’s important to reinforce that they can succeed in this chosen
field and that support is there.”
An equally happy alumna Ashley Kyle '08CPS, Coordinator, Digital
Marketing and Social Platforms, Clear Channel Online Music &
Radio, added, “It’s great to come back and see what many recent St.
John’s graduates went on to do. It’s nice to catch up with
everybody.”
Now in its seventh year, the event—co-sponsored by the Office of
Institutional Advancement and the College of Professional
Studies—was again successful in bringing together students and
alumni.
Communication Arts major, Alexandra Coloreo '11CPS remarked
that, “It’s such a great environment [at this program]. I’m so
happy that the alumni took the time to come back and talk to
us.”
