Blistering cold temperatures did not prevent St. John’s
University alumni and friends from heading to Madison Square Garden
(MSG) to cheer on the men’s basketball team as they played against
the University of Connecticut.

The group of more than 60 loyal fans came to support the Red
Storm and reconnect with their friends from college days.
“This is my first time at an alumni event at Madison Square Garden
but it won’t be my last,” noted John Woods '85SVC. “I’ve
enjoyed meeting and getting back in touch with fellow alumni—who I
never expected to see tonight!”
The lively pre-game reception was held in a private area at
MSG’s Second Floor Terrace where attendees enjoyed refreshments,
mingled, spoke with representatives from the University and
participated in a raffle to win St. John’s gear.
Matthew Schiller '73SVC, who attended basketball games last
season, attended his first pre-game reception at the Garden and was
pleased with what he found. “So far, the reception is the
highlight of the evening,” he said.
Die-hard Red Storm fan Greg Bodkin '76SVC agreed and recalled
meeting great people at alumni events in the past. He was
enthusiastic about the reception and reaffirmed his long-time
support for alma mater.
This event was the first of five pre-game receptions this season
sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations.
