Kirk Kraeutler is Assistant Foreign Editor at The New York Times
responsible for coverage of Afghanistan, Pakistan and South Asia.
He helped lead the newspaper's coverage by a team of correspondents
that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting in
2009. Before joining the Times in 1995, he was an editor at Foreign
Affairs journal published by the Council on Foreign Relations. He
earned a masters degree from Columbia University's School for
International and Public Affairs and a BA from New York University.
He is married and lives in Manhattan.
