Our prayers are with everyone who has been impacted by Hurricane
Sandy.
True to our Vincentian values, the St. John’s University
community has undertaken a number of initiatives to assist those
whose lives have been disrupted by this terrible storm.
Students
Our students have gone into the community to distribute food,
clothing and personal items and have participated in clean-up
efforts to remove hurricane-related damage and debris. Read about
how they’ve been helping here.
St. John’s Bread and Life
The Mobile Soup Kitchen of St. John’s Bread and Life has been
bringing meals and bagged food to people living in the hardest hit
areas of Brooklyn and Queens. They have also seen a dramatic
increase of victims seeking assistance at their main facility in
the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. They are seeking cash
gifts, as well as donations of non-perishable food, toiletries,
cleaning products, diapers and batteries. Please contact them at www.breadandlife.org.
Hurricane Sandy Victims Scholarship
Fund
The University has established this fund to offer financial
scholarship assistance to St. John’s students whose families have
been impacted by the hurricane. Please consider making a gift to
support our students in their time of need. Learn about this
scholarship here. Donate now and select “Hurricane Sandy Victims
Scholarship Fund” in the Designation drop-down menu.
