Abu Serajuddin, Ph.D. earned his undergraduate degree in
Pharmacy from Dhaka University, Bangladesh, received his M.S. in
Pharmaceutics from Columbia University and his Ph.D. in Industrial
Pharmacy from St. John's University. He joined the faculty of St.
John’s as Professor of Industrial Pharmacy in September 2008 after
working for three decades in the pharmaceutical industry. Before
coming to St. John’s he served as the Executive Director and U.S.
Head of Drug Product Development and the Global Head of Science and
Technology Development within Technical Research and Development
for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.
He is a Fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical
Scientists (AAPS), the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the
International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), and the
American Association of Indian Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAiPS).
He was named the Novartis Leading Scientist in 2005 and received
the AAPS Research Achievement Award in Formulation Design and
Development (FDD) in 2010. He serves on the Editorial Advisory
Boards of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Journal of
Excipients and Food Chemicals.
