Frank Cafaro '71Ed

A lifelong resident of Staten Island, Frank Cafaro graduated from St. John’s Villa Elementary School and New Dorp High School. In 1971 he received a B.A. in Secondary Education - Asian Studies from St. John’s University and later earned his M.A. in Secondary Education - History from Richmond College. Cafaro also holds a Religious Education Certificate from Boston College and a Professional Diploma in LaSallian Studies from St. Mary’s College of California.

He began his teaching career at Holy Rosary School and later joined St. Peter’s Boys High School. Following a term as Dean of Students at St. John’s University, he returned to St. Peter’s Boys High School where he currently serves as Director of Guidance while also teaching Religion and History. He is also the Owner and President of Cafaro’s Getaway Travel.

Cafaro has earned numerous awards during his professional career, including the Distinguished LaSallian Educator Award.  He was named Teacher of the Year by the Staten Island Continuum of Education in 1994 and has been listed for many years in “Who’s Who Among American Teachers”.

He is the founder of the Staten Island Ice Hockey Association, a member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools Ministry Team and serves on the Ministry Board of their New York Province. A true supporter of St. John Villa Academy, he is a member of their Executive Development Committee and the Capital Campaign Steering Committee/Executive Council.
