Recalling their days of foul shots, jumpers and picks, 35
basketball alumnae and their families gathered on Saturday,
December 2 for Women’s Basketball Alumnae Day at St. John’s
University.
The festivities began at Taffner Field House with an 11 a.m.
alumnae game in which former lady hoopsters showed that they still
had what it takes to sink the difficult shot. Following the
spirited and highly competitive contest, the players and their
families relaxed and remembered “the good old days” over lunch in
the President’s Room of Carnesecca Arena. Following lunch,
players turned into spectators to cheer on this year’s Women’s
Basketball team in their 2006 inaugural contest against Monmouth
University.
“It was a great to play against basketball alumnae from the
‘70’s through the 2000’s” noted Mary Callahan ‘77Ed.
“Hopefully, we’ll have more former players coming back to play in
the future, which will make the game even more fun for
everyone.”
“All of our alumni are part of the St. John’s family” commented
Kathy Meehan, Associate Vice President for Athletics, “and, like in
every family, it’s good to have the members come back and get
together for good times. That’s really what this is all
about.”
