The SRM Alumni originated by the alumni board of The College of
Insurance (now St. John’s The Peter J. Tobin College of Business
School of Risk Management) as a means of raising funds to support
the activities of their alumni association. It subsequently
assumed an additional focus to honor the exceptional dedication of
former alumni association president John M. Jahrling, Jr.
’68TCI.
Originally, a trophy donated by the Church Insurance Company was
awarded annually to the golfer with the overall lowest score.
Today, a replica of that trophy is awarded to the winner, and a
commemorative plaque is placed on display in the SRM
office.
