A new, multi-purpose Biochemistry Lab for use by undergraduate
Pharmacy and Toxicology students has been created in Room 140 of
St. Albert Hall. The facility includes new lighting and flooring,
new ventilation exhaust hoods and new laboratory furniture.
Numerous upgrades have been installed throughout the facility,
including those for water, gas, compressed air and ventilation
services. The lab is connected to new rooftop air conditioning
equipment and features enhanced IT distribution. It is configured
for classes of up to 24 students working in groups, and each group
has been provided with locked storage space for their individual
materials.
As in all laboratories, safety is a paramount issue, and the new
facility has been outfitted with glass enclosed work areas in which
students can conduct experiments with toxic chemicals by simply
inserting their arms and hands into the secure area.
There is a separate and secure preparation room and storage area
within the lab to accommodate the supplies of chemicals and
equipment that are used during the teaching process.
