Today’s St. John’s University students are not too different
than they were when the University first opened its doors in
1870. Many of them are still the first in their families to
go to college, and they still rely on scholarship support to
realize their dreams of a quality college education. Our
donors help them to achieve their goals.
Read about some of these students and the
donors who support them.
As St. John’s continues to fulfill its mission of assisting
students with financial challenges—more than 95% of our
undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid much of
it from the University’s own funds—your support is needed to help
them succeed.
You can help deserving students pay for college by establishing
an endowed or expendable scholarship. An endowed
scholarship is established with a minimum of $50,000 which is
invested. Interest accrued is then awarded annually to
students who meet the scholarship criteria. An expendable
scholarship is established with a minimum of $5,000.
Those funds are then awarded to students who meet the scholarship
criteria.

"People who were fortunate enough to get an education
at St. John's should always be prepared to give to the
school that allowed them the opportunity to succeed.
I established the Carmelo and Gregoria Zizza
Scholarship Fund because it's one way of honoring
the parents I loved."--Salvatore J. Zizza '67UC, '72MBA
