Mission
The Hispanic-Latino Alumni Association's (HLAA) members
are dedicated to the Vincentian tradition of service and social
justice to empower its current and future alumni, both
academically and professionally. By strengthening relationships
among alumni, students and the University community, the members of
HLAA seek to honor its culture and educate others on this pride. We
will commit ourselves to promoting, providing and maintaining a
medium that educates our global community on the contributions and
services of the Hispanic-Latino culture.
Statement of Purpose
The members of the Hispanic-Latino Alumni Association uphold the
University's mission statement by strengthening relationships with
other alumni groups as well as among its own.
Goals
The primary goal of the Hispanic-Latino Alumni Association
is to create a climate of compassion and openness while
striving to educate the Hispanic-Latino community.
- Provide networking forums for our Hispanic-Latino alumni
- Strengthen and enhance the participation of
St. John's Hispanic-Latino alumni - Educate, assist and empower the Hispanic-Latino community
- Network among alumni and students through Count On Alumni for
Career Help (C.O.A.C.H.) program and other educational events
- Promote and involve alumni support and participation with the
mentoring of our Hispanic-Latino students through internships
and workshops.
- Support Latin Heritage Month
- Develop, maintain and provide a scholarship fund for our
resident and foreign students
- Assist the University in achieving its commitment to the
education and the celebration of the cultural diversity among our
Hispanic-Latino students, faculty, administration and alumni.
