Induction into the
Heritage Circle
of
Anita Tobin Rogers
At a time when few women majored in science, Anita Tobin Rogers
received her B.S. in Chemistry from University College in 1955.
Following graduation she began a professional career that was to
include positions in the research laboratories of major
corporations including Avon Products and Charles Pfizer &
Company. Her career as a scientist, however, was to be just one
noteworthy accomplishment in the life of this loyal alumna. Her
commitment to the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul is evidenced by her
ongoing involvement in community service and philanthropy. She has
served as President of the Regina Assemblies of the Diocese of
Rockville Centre and has been a teacher in the Confraternity of
Christian Doctrine program as well as a Cub Scout Den Mother, both
at St. Agnes Cathedral Parish on Long Island. She and her husband,
Eugene, a 1954 graduate of the College of Business Administration,
have been ardent supporters and special friends of St. John’s for
many years. Since Gene’s passing, Anita has maintained the
tradition that they started as a team, continuing their membership
in The Loughlin Society and their contributions to scholarship
assistance for St. John’s students as a regular participants in the
Newman Golf Classic, now known as the Father Dorr Golf Classic.
Tonight, in celebration of her research career and her devotion to
our Vincentian ideals and in recognition of the 55th anniversary of
her graduation, St. John’s University is pleased to induct Anita
Tobin Rogers into the Heritage Circle.
