Bernadette Cannon McDonald '84SVC

Bernadette Cannon McDonald '84SVC received the Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award of St. John’s University at the 28th Annual Alumni Convocation on Friday, May 29, 2009.

A true St. John’s University success story, she received her B.S. in Athletic Administration from St. Vincent’s College in 1984, and actually began her professional career prior to graduation.  During the spring semester of her senior year she secured an internship at the New York City headquarters of Major League Baseball.

Ms. McDonald’s excellent academic preparation and outstanding work ethic so impressed the organization that she was offered a professional position immediately after graduation.   Over the past quarter-century her tenure at Major League Baseball has been marked by numerous promotions with ever-increasing responsibility, and she currently serves as Vice President of Broadcast Operations.

“Twenty-five years and I’ve never looked back,” she said.  “I appreciate all the experience St. John’s gave me.  If I had not attended St. John’s I probably would not have been able to get my foot in the door in the field I love the most – sports.”

The Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award is an honor reserved for alumni who have either distinguished themselves in their personal careers and professions or have made a significant contribution to the life of the University.
