Business databases contain much valuable information pertaining not
only to topics in business and economics but to other curricula and
other subject areas. Generally, non-business STJ stu-dents and
faculty do not think to investigate business databases to locate
information they are looking for. For instance, Mergent has country
studies pertinent to political science students and sociology,
Business Source Premier has lots of information supporting social
sciences courses in general (e.g. World Hunger); other databases,
including ABI/INFORM, contain data on ethics (Theology, Philosophy)
or industrial psychology for Psychology courses. Other subject
areas found in business databases would relate to business law for
Paralegal Studies courses and arti-cles related to green business
for Environmental Studies. Additionally covered will be databases
that contain business information but are not focused specifically
on business topics (e.g. data-bases: ProQuest Religion, the
Philosopher's Index, and PsycINFO). The objective of this program
will be to introduce faculty to the wealth of cross-curricular
information available from business databases and to introduce
business faculty to cross-curricular information from other subject
databases.
