St. John’s University Provost, Dr. Julia A. Upton,
RSM, and New York Film
Academy (NYFA) President and Founder, Jerry Sherlock, met in
Manhattan on October 10 to sign an Articulation Agreement to
partner in a new academic initiative for students from both
institutions.
St. John’s College of Professional Studies will accept qualified
transfer students who have taken one year of filmmaking from NYFA who, in turn, can matriculate
into the University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Television and
Film Studies program effective immediately.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the New York Film Academy and, it is
fitting that we sign this agreement in Tribeca, which is the
independent film capital of the world, and where the academy and
quality filmmaking have received widespread acclaim,” said Dr.
Frank Brady, Chair of the Department of Mass Communications at St.
John’s University.
Sherlock is equally thrilled to have St. John’s as an
educational arm for NYFA and is
committed to the University’s curriculum in the area of film
studies. He discussed plans for future scholarship opportunities
and a guest lecture series with NYFA professionals at St. John’s
Manhattan Campus (101 Murray Street).
