St. John’s University Master’s in Library and Information Science Courses to Be Offered at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Rockland County

St. John’s University is pleased to announce a partnership with St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) that will enable STAC students to earn a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree in five years. We are pleased to extend enrollment in the courses to other individuals in and around Rockland County who hold the bachelor’s degree and wish to explore the field of librarianship and the cognate information professions.

Academically eligible undergraduate juniors and seniors at STAC will be permitted to enroll in up to four introductory core courses in library and information science, and will need just one year of full-time study at St. John’s to complete the master’s degree. Some courses will be taught at STAC and some on line. If enough students enroll, the entire program will be offered at STAC or on line.

Our first course, Introduction to Library and Information Science, will be offered on Tuesdays from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas College starting on the 17th of October and running for ten weeks. This course will be available for eventual application towards the MLS program at St. John’s or may be eligible for transfer to another ALA-accredited institution.

Scholarships available for academically qualified matriculated students.
