Health Insurance

St. John's University makes available accident and sickness insurance to all students through University Health Plans. Health insurance coverage is mandatory for students in University Housing and International students on an F1 or J1 visa. *Please be advised the new 2017-2018 policy year insurance rates will be announced May 2017.

Health Insurance Rates for 2016-2017

Effective August 15, 2016 through August 14, 2017.

*TLC insurance rates are per seven week session only.

Residence Students

The University will automatically provide and charge for health insurance for those residence students who have not waived the University provided insurance. The charge for insurance will be added to the semester invoice which is due and payable with the tuition and fee charges. Residence students are required to submit their insurance information online at universityhealthplans.com to waive the insurance coverage by February 8, 2017. A $100 penalty will be charged if a waiver is received between February 9, 2017 and March 10, 2017. There will be NO WAIVERS ACCEPTED after March 10, 2017.

Commuter Students

Accident and Sickness Insurance is also available to all full-time and part-time commuter students. This insurance can be purchased by enrolling online at universityhealthplans.com. The last day to enroll for Spring is February 8, 2017.

Notice-Coverage for dependents of students through University Health Plans will not be available for the 2016-2017 policy year. You may research and  determine your appropriate coverage needs for your dependents by reviewing the marketplace websites below:

International Students

All F1 and J1 students are required to participate in the St. John’s University’s accident and sickness insurance plan. This insurance is mandatory for the student’s entire enrollment at the University.

Please refrain from purchasing an outside insurance policy as one will be provided for you.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you have a current U.S. mailing address listed in UIS.

Vision and Dental Care
