The Peter J. Tobin College of Business-EIRP Presents to NYSE

November 06, 2007

November 2007—On October 16th, graduate students from the Executive-In-Residence Program delivered a project presentation to approximately 25 NYSE personnel. Project sponsor Greg Reisert of the Market Data, along with Eileen Kelly and Chris Muldoon, gave 17 graduate students a real-life challenge the Market Data Group is currently facing and managed the students for six weeks to help them develop a solution.

The purpose of the project was to help develop strategies for the NYSE to capture untapped markets through development and expansion of data products and to help promote the NYSE brand and its ability to disseminate market data to this untapped market.

One particular group recommended using a survey to gauge user preferences of OpenBook, an exchange product that provides trading information. Monica Peborde, a Public Accounting Major, said, “My team worked very well together and we were able to capitalize on everyone’s strenghts within the group to come up with solutions. The EIRP provides the arena for students to apply their professional and educational experience in a real-world setting, allowing students to interact with executives on issues of strategic importance.”

Eileen Kelly, Account Manager, Market Data, said, “Each group came up with a different idea to address our obstacles. All of the ideas were well thought out and will be given serious consideration for implementation. It was impressive to see how much work went into this project in such a short amount of time.”
