St. John’s University’s Vincentian Center for Church and Society
will host "Management for Ministry: Trends and Skills," on Tuesday,
September 14, 2010 at its Staten Island campus. The Vincentian
Center programs in Church and Management were inspired by the late
John Cardinal O’Connor and first developed on Staten Island through
the collaboration of local Pastors and St. John’s faculty.
At this event, the debut of the publication "A Concise Guide to
Catholic Church Management" will be introduced by author Sr.
Margaret John Kelly, Executive Director of The Vincentian Center
for Church and Society at St. John’s University. The Center has
been successfully training priests and pastoral leaders in
management concepts and skills. Built upon this wealth of
experience, "A Concise Guide to Catholic Church Management"
connects the theory of academic training with the hands-on skills
of pastoral practice.
This guide is designed to help the reader ask the right questions,
understand the basics of specialized vocabularies, and develop
proven skills. It also heightens sensitivity to the elements of
organizational health and responsible stewardship.
The faculty panel includes: Associate Professor of Management at
St. John’s University, Larry Boone, Ph.D., Associate Director of
the Vincentian Center for Church and Society, Mary Ann Dantuono,
J.D., and Professor of Accounting at St. John’s University, James
Thompson, Ed.D., C.P.A. Margaret John Kelly, D.C., Ph.D., Executive
Director of the Vincentian Center for Church and Society, will
