Alessio Chiarini
Intern at StyleOwner
Week Two

My name is Alessio Chiarini, and I am a Junior at St.John's University. I am now interning at StyleOwner, a growing e-commerce business. My major is Business Management, but I do not limit myself with only management oriented internships. I have had several internships, but this one is quite different. I did not apply for it, nor was it given it to me. Together with a partner, we had to create our own marketing plan for StyleOwner. We then came up with a creative and unique marketing plan, and were selected among 38 other groups. I was grateful to be picked as one of the winners, and was looking forward to start the internship.

I have now been at StyleOwner for five weeks, and so far it has been an amazing experience. The staff has been extremely kind to me, answering all my questions and concerns at anytime. The best part about this internship, is the fact that I get to apply in real life a marketing plan that I have designed. I feel that there is no better way to acquire experience. Knowledge that I have been taught in the classrooms have been helping me significantly to make the right decisions regarding the execution of the marketing plan. I am looking forward on continuing my internship, and continuing on gaining valuable experience.

Week Five

I have now been interning at StyleOwner for more than a month now, and so far it has been an amazing learning experience. The logistics of the competition that Adam and I had to face were more difficult that what we predicted them to be. We originally planned on hosting the competition at five schools across the country. Due to a lack of responses and time, we ultimately decided to focus on one fashion school, located in New York. After collecting several contact information, we decided to visit the school to speak to representatives that could help us promote the competition within the school. After visiting the school to get the competition approved by the director of the student life, we came back to the office to search for more information regarding clubs that might be interested in promoting the competition.

In addition we also collected several contacts of professors that could be interested in advertising the competition in their classes. The student clubs we are contacting are all clubs of marketing, advertisement in the fashion industry, digital media and merchandising; so all of the members should be interested in the competition. In addition, the Facebook page of the competition if finalized, permitting us to use it as a promotion tool on the official school's page. Restricting the competition to one school instead of trying to reach out to five seemed like a intelligent idea. I am now confident the competition is going to be a success, and a great way to promote StyleOwner among fashion college students.
