The Economics and Finance Department offers courses that
introduce students to cutting-edge economic and finance theories
and their application to domestic and global issues. At the
undergraduate level, the Department offers a Bachelor of Arts in
economics through St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences,
a Bachelor of Science in economics through the Tobin College of
Business, and a Bachelor of Science in finance through the Tobin
College of Business.
The bachelor’s degrees may be pursued as terminal degrees for
students seeking careers in business, banking, securities,
insurance, government, and other professions, or they may serve as
a prelude to graduate study in economics, finance, business, law,
education, and other disciplines. Undergraduate students have the
opportunity to intern during their senior year with prestigious
businesses and financial institutions in the metropolitan area.
Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to participate in
The Student Managed Investment Funds program to manage a live
portfolio of approximately $1.7 million. The newly established
Financial Information Lab provides analytical tools and data
sources for them and other business students at the Tobin College
of Business to study and make investment decisions similar to those
available at a securities firm.
