|RE:||Mid-Term Grading: Spring 2012|
Given the University’s goals of enhancing student engagement and
supporting the academic progress of students, I write to remi
nd you of the University’s approach regarding mid-term grading
for freshmen. For the purpose of mid-term grade submission,
the University defines freshmen as all first-time undergraduate
students admitted for the current semester, regardless of the
number of credits they have, and all other undergraduate students
who have 24 or fewer credits.
You should receive rosters of your freshmen students the week of
February 21, 2012. Due to the fact that Spring break is a
week before the March 10th due date, the University had decided to
move the date that grades are due by one week to Saturday,
March 17, 2012. However, you can begin to submit
your grades as early as Monday, February 27,
2012. In accordance with established practice,
we will report to the Provost and Deans on the progress of mid-term
I take this opportunity to remind you that mid-term grades are
informational only. They do not appear on transcripts.
Although University policy requires that you submit mid-term grades
for freshmen, you are encouraged to submit mid-term grades for all
students. The last day for a student to withdraw from a class
or to apply for a pass/fail option is Friday, March 30,
I thank you for your past cooperation in submitting mid-term
grades. Mid-term grades afford students a better understanding of
their progress at this key point in the semester, and help them in
their planning for the remainder of the semester.
