Sport Management

An internship program is available for qualified students. These internships provide students with an opportunity to apply what has been learned in class to practical situations in the field. The experience gained through internships has assisted graduates in obtaining positions with sport organizations in public and media relations, advertising, sales promotion, marketing, financial management, facilities management, and administration.

Our location in New York City and the partnerships that we have built over the past 30 years gives our students the opportunity to work with some of the best-known organizations in the sports industry. Our students have interned with virtually every major and minor league franchise, athletic facility, and college athletic department in the New York area. Internships are also available outside the greater metropolitan area – we have recently placed students with the Big East Conference in Providence, the Miami Heat, Hank Haney’s International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head Island, and the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs.

To qualify for an internship, students must be juniors or seniors that have completed at least 12 credits in sport management courses with a minimum grade point average of 2.75. Any internship requires faculty approval before beginning – if you start an internship without approval you will not earn credit.
