On Sunday, March 8, 2009 Professor Bernard Helldorfer, J.D.,
was a guest on “In The Arena,” a program on the Diocese of
Brooklyn’s New Evangelization Television (The NET). The topic
of the program was the proposed bill in Albany that would open up
New York State’s statute of limitations for one year to allow
persons who claim to have been victims of clergy sex abuse as
minors many years ago to sue now. Prof. Helldorfer was
invited to appear on the show because he serves as Chair of
Brooklyn’s Diocesan Review Board, which advises the bishop in his
assessment of allegations of sexual abuse of minors and in his
determination of a cleric’s suitability for ministry.
