Professor of Business Law Joyce Boland-DeVito, J.D., was invited by
Columbia University’s Teachers College to speak to their students
on April 18, 2009 at Columbia’s Gottesman Library. Prof.
Boland-DeVito was asked to make a presentation because of her
number-two ranking (out of more than a million faculty in the U.S.,
Canada and the U.K.) on mtvU’s RateMyProfessors.com. In
addition to her presentation, Professor Boland-DeVito was invited
to submit a commentary on “How to
be a COOL Teacher in 4 Easy Steps” with accompanying video to
the Teachers College
Record. Almerinda Forte, Ph.D., Chair of the
Administration and Economics Division, accompanied her colleague to
the presentation.
Dean’s Office
More than 100 students were honored for academic excellence and
service to the College at the Annual CPS Awards Ceremony, which
took place on April 21, 2009 in Marillac Terrace. This annual event
gives the College an opportunity to honor and applaud its students
for their outstanding accomplishments.
CPS Dean Kathleen Vouté MacDonald, Ed.D. hosted the event, which
was attended by about 350 people, and was ably assisted by her
staff. Rev. Michael Cummins, C.M., Assistant Dean, served as
Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Rev. John Kettelberger,
C.M., Director of Residence Ministry, offered the Invocation
and University Provost Julia A. Upton, RSM, Ph.D., presented
as well. A large cohort of faculty and administrators were in
attendance to honor the students.
The 10th Annual Criminal Justice Awards Dinner was held on April
27, 2009, also in Marillac Terrace. Awards presented during
