Assistant Professor Linda Chin was appointed by the Honorable
Charles J. Thomas, Justice of the Supreme Court of Queens County,
to be the Court Evaluator at a Guardianship proceeding held on May
29, 2007.
Professor Chin also gave two presentations on “Careers in Law”
to high school students at Seward Park High School in Manhattan and
the In-School Youth Program located in Flushing, Queens. She
focused on St. John’s undergraduate programs in Legal Studies and
Criminal Justice in addition to careers after law school.
Division of Hotel, Restaurant, Sport,
Travel & Tourism
Carol Fletcher, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Sport
Management, traveled to Rome to continue discussions regarding an
articulation between the University of Rome and St. John’s
University. Additionally, Dr. Fletcher was exploring
internship possibilities for the recently introduced graduate
program.
Heidi Sung, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Hotel, Restaurant,
Travel & Tourism and Director of the Hospitality Management
program, traveled to Rome and Perugia to continue discussions
regarding an articulation between St. John’s and the University of
Perugia to conduct a summer 2008 semester-abroad program in
International Tourism Management. Additionally, Dr. Sung was
exploring internship opportunities in Rome and the possibility of a
Mediterranean cruise to precede the summer session.

Queens Campus
On May 13, a total of 749 degrees were conferred at the
College of Professional Studies Queens graduation
ceremony. Twenty-three students received master’s
degrees, 690 were awarded bachelor’s degrees and 36 received
associate degrees. Thirty-eight
Staten Island Campus
CPS held the Staten Island graduation ceremony on May
12. Six students received A.S. degrees, 109 were awarded B.S.
degrees and 7 students received their M.P.S. in Criminal Justice
Leadership. Nicole DeCapua, Assistant to the Dean, was among those
receiving a master’s degree.
