Professor Ellen Boegel facilitated a Student Life Civility
and Tolerance Series seminar on immigration on October 24. Six
students--Vincent Cucuzza, Valeria DeLuna, Sheku Mansaray, Natalia
Motus, Kyoko Shakagori, and Savreen Singh--presented different
perspectives on immigration issues in the United States. Sr. Joan
Mahoney, CND, explained the Catholic Church’s teaching on
immigration and several audience members shared their own immigrant
experiences. The event ended with a call to action from Professor
Boegel.
Antoinette Schlossberg. Ph.D., made a presentation on “The Use
of Internet Headline News to Stimulate Student Introspection,
Critical Thinking and Attitude Change in the Classroom” at the
Mid-Atlantic Pop and American Culture Association in Baltimore on
October 27.
