On July 14, 2012, one of the University's most generous and
dedicated alumni, Leo W. Pierce, Sr.'39C, '99HON
passed away at his home in Florida. A self-made business executive,
he founded one of the largest information and records management
firms in North America, which would ultimately become part of Iron
Mountain.
Pierce demonstrated his devotion to St. John's in a number of ways,
and his legacy here will undoubtedly live on. In addition to his
membership in The Founders Society, he established and supported
the Leo W. and Marjorie L. Pierce Scholarship Endowment Fund,
designed to offer scholarship assistance to the University's most
deserving students. In 2009 he was the first alumnus to have a
townhouse in The Founders Village named in his honor.
