St. John’s University will honor some of its most outstanding
graduates at the Alumni Convocation, to be held Friday, May
20, 2011 at St.
Thomas More Church on the Queens
campus.
This annual event recognizes alumni who have made exceptional
contributions to the St. John’s community. In total, 16
alumni will receive awards.
The Alumni Outstanding Achievement Medal is
given to alumni who either have distinguished themselves in their
personal careers and professions or have made a significant
contribution to the life of the University. Congratulations to this
year’s recipients: Joseph S. Barbaro ’41C, Sebby Borriello
’81C, James E. Costello ’61C, Diane D’Erasmo ’76CBA, Pascal
Desroches ’86CBA, Michael A. Dorato, Ph.D. ’71P, ’73GP,
’76Pharm.D., Thomas F. Goldrick, Jr. ’61CBA and Joseph M.
Mattone, Jr. Esq., ’86L.
The Pietas Medal is presented to alumni who
have demonstrated loyalty, fidelity and devotion to St. John’s.
Congratulations to this year’s honorees: William J. Graham
’56C, Nina Pannizzo Oliva ’56P and Sr. Catherine Thornton,
O.P. ’71Ed.
The Heritage Circle is given to alumni who have
graduated more than 40 years ago and maintained a close association
with the University in a unique and extraordinary way.
Congratulations to this year’s recipients: Robert D. Kelly
’61CBA and Gaynor J. Ryan, Esq. ’57CBA, ’61L.
The President’s Medal is presented to an
individual who has achieved exceptional personal and professional
success, and rendered outstanding service to the University or
society. Congratulations to this year’s honorees: Bruce Bent
’61CBA, ’79HON and Charles M. Piluso ’76SVC, ’78G,
’86MBA.
The Medal of Honor is the highest award that
the University may bestow upon an alumnus. Congratulations to
Alfred V. Liberti, Ph.D. ’41G, ’07HON for being this
year’s recipient.
