Student Life - STJ Storms Out Bullying - Queens Campus

November 29, 2011 7:00 PM
D'Angelo Center, Rm. 128, Queens Campus

Overwhelmingly, schools are safe and nurturing places for students, and school leaders and faculty are dedicated to making sure schools remain safe, learning environments for all students. However, bullying is a serious issue that every school in the nation faces. Nationwide, research shows that more than half of all school-aged children will be involved in bullying this year as a victim or a perpetrator with many more witnessing bullying acts on a regular basis.

At St. John’s University, we believe in working together with our students to combat bullying. We know this problem isn’t confined to school grounds. Bullying at school affects and is affected by what happens at home between siblings, what happens in the neighborhood, and what happens when kids go online. We must work together to take immediate action, whether a child bullies, is a victim of bullying, or is a witness to bullying.

St. John’s University would like to invite students, parents and their children to an evening program hosted by the School of Education, Division of Student Affairs, Academic Service Learning and Fraternity and Sorority Life.  Our purpose is to support and educate parents and children on this issue of bullying in our communities.

St. John’s University and the affiliated sponsors are proud to bring speakers, professors, student and alumni together to address bullying within the community.  Refreshments will be served.
