Under the guidance of Dr. Sally Kenel and Crystal I. Vera,
Academic Support Services, Honors Program the Honors upperclassmen
of the Theology Colloquium presented their final “Go Green” project
presentations on Friday, December 12th.
The three groups presented their doable, realistic greening
recommendations for three areas on the Staten Island Campus,
DaSilva Academic Center, Residence Life at Grymes Hill Apartments,
and Spellman Hall (Public Safety and Chartwells) to Mr. Tom
Goldsmith, Director of Energy & Environmental Conservation for
the University and Mr. Gerard A. McEnerney, Assistant Vice
President and Executive Director of the Staten Island Campus and
other members of the Staten Island Campus Community.
The project was successful in bringing sustainability issues to
the forefront of the Campus Community’s consciousness and the
students were commended by Tom Goldsmith for a job well done.
Following the Christmas Break the students will work to increase
sustainability awareness and focus on their participation in the
RecycleMania competition, an intercollegiate recycling
