This 126-credit degree program stresses the social and behavioral science concepts, interpersonal communication skills and ethical values needed for the service professions.

Combining classroom theory with valuable internship experience, the program prepares students to interview and assess clients, create strategies for addressing client needs and develop treatment plans suitable to the client and the agency. Graduates are able to perform therapeutic, preventive and supportive functions with diverse client populations.

Requirements
Students in the program complete 33 classroom and 18 internship credits in their major area. They also complete nine credits in concentration courses. Like all St. John’s University students, human services majors also benefit from the broad knowledge and analytical skills gained through the liberal arts and sciences. Students complete 54 credits in the liberal arts and sciences, as well as 12 credits in the electives of their choice.
