About the Program

The mission of the Homeland & Corporate Security Program is to provide students with knowledge of the essential components of a proactive security environment in both a national and corporate setting. The program examines physical and human security, safety, and emergency management applications from a practical and theoretical perspective. The program uses technology based classroom learning and progressive internship opportunities to prepare students for discipline-related graduate programs as well as careers in national and business security.

  • Differentiate between governmental and private security functions.
  • Describe governmental statutory authority and its impact on private security entities.
  • Describe policy standardization models as they relate to both governmental and private security entities.
  • Describe communication and information sharing practices.

Identify critical issues facing homeland and private sector security practitioners.

  • Explain the role of threat assessments in critical issue identification.
  • Identify potential acts of domestic terrorism and their impact on both national and private sector security operations.
  • Describe critical issues unique to national security and the actions you would take.
  • Describe critical issues facing private sector security operations and the actions you would take.
