Homeland and Corporate Security Program

The Homeland and Corporate Security program at St. John’s University focuses on the issues surrounding the protection of the national critical infrastructure from terrorism and other major criminal acts.  

With approximately 85% of America's critical infrastructure (energy, transportation, telecommunications, agriculture, etc.) owned or controlled by private corporations, an unparalleled working relationship has developed between the Department of Homeland Security and teh organizational security functions of private business.  The Homeland and Corporate Security Program explores this vital partnership and provides students with a thorough solution-oriented understanding of the multifaceted issues confronting protection professionals in the homeland/corporate security field.

Curriculum
The Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland and Corporate Security is designed to provide a professional dimension to the managerial and technological phases of corporate security.  Students will study a diverse curriculum including such topics as

  • Terrorism
  • Emergency Management
  • Intelligence Gathering and Analysis
  • Asset Protection
  • Investigations
  • Facility Protection
  • Industrial Espionage

To obtain this degree, 126 credits must be completed.  An minor in Homeland and Corporate Security is also available.

Faculty
The professors in the Homeland and Corporate Security Program are highly qualified academically and have many years of professional experience in the business community.  Some of our faculty have held senior-level security positions in the most prestigious corporations in the country.  All of our professors bring a career-oriented style of teaching which best prepares our students for successful careers in this field.
