Today's focus on national security is creating new demands for
well-educated, well-trained law enforcement and security
professionals.
Since September 11, 2001, government agencies and private
corporations have joined to protect the U.S. homeland from
terrorism. One result is the Department of Homeland Security — with
an annual budget of more than $40 billion, it is a major source of
career opportunities for security professionals. Another source is
the private sector, which owns or controls 85 percent of our
nation's infrastructure.
You can build a career helping to protect our nation by earning
your Bachelor of Science Degree in Homeland and Corporate Security
at St. John’s University. Offered by the College of
Professional Studies, this innovative 126-credit program is
ranked among the top 100 “
Best Degree Programs” by Security Magazine.
The program prepares security leaders who can help protect our
national infrastructure from terrorism and other criminal threats.
Students prepare for a leadership track in the homeland and
corporate security sectors. Courses are designed to provide a solid
theoretical and practical understanding of the managerial and
technological challenges to homeland and organizational
security.
Equipped with this knowledge and training, the program’s
graduates find positions in major corporations as well as the many
agencies of the Department
of Homeland Security, including the Secret Service, the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) and Immigration and Customs
Enforcement (ICE).
