Academic Resources

Students benefit from the outstanding academic resources for which St. John’s is known. All new students receive their own wireless laptop computer with full access to St. John’s award-winning network.

Facilities include high-tech classrooms, laboratories and our 1.7 million-volume University Library system. The University’s new D’Angelo Center, located on the Queens campus, is a five-story, 127,000-square-foot facility with classrooms, lecture halls, a Starbucks Café, a full-service food court and a distinctive lounge with a fireplace.

The Pre-Law Advisement Program offers additional activities and opportunities that complement the outstanding academic resources available to all students at St. John’s.

The Mock Trial Team
The team consistently achieves top national rankings in the annual intercollegiate Mock Trial Tournaments. “Trials” simulate genuine courtroom conditions, with a jury and actual judges presiding. Students perform as attorneys and witnesses. In 2010, the team capped the 16th straight season that St. John’s has earned a bid to the national championship’s opening rounds. Overall, St. John’s placed sixth out of 28 teams in the Atlantic Region, which includes powerhouses like Columbia, NYU and Yale.

The Legal Society
The society, which has chapters at the Queens and Staten Island campuses, regularly invites practicing lawyers, judges and law school representatives to campus to talk with students.

New York City
We also recommend that you take advantage of New York City’s status as home to many local, state and federal courts, as well as major law firms. Students also benefit from St. John’s location in terms of internships with law firms, government agencies and other employers throughout the metropolitan area.
