Giles W. Casaleggio obtained a Bachelor of Science in management
from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Juris Doctorate from St.
John's University Law School. He is presently an Associate
Professor of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies at St. John's
University.
He is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and
before The United States Supreme Court. As a career prosecuting
attorney, he has held positions on the federal, state, county and
municipal levels.
During his tenure as a prosecuting attorney in three separate
New Jersey Counties, he served as a trial specialist, appellate
researcher, grand jury supervisor, juvenile court staff member and
Chief of narcotics and organized crime investigations. During this
period, he was also appointed as a part-time city prosecutor where
he prosecuted DWI, traffic and misdemeanor cases.
In 1985, Casaleggio was appointed to the position of New Jersey
Deputy Attorney General and assigned to the Division of Criminal
Justice Special Prosecutions Unit, which handled Corruption and
Organized Crime.
In 1987, when the Attorney General of New Jersey created a State
Police Division of Criminal Justice Statewide Narcotics Strike
Force, Casaleggio was designated supervisor of the Northern New
Jersey Region. Shortly after accepting a teaching position
with St. John's University, Casaleggio was elected twice as a mayor
and councilman in the New Jersey Municipality where he resides.
He is presently an active member of the New Jersey Criminal
Justice Educators Association, the St. John's University Alumni
Association and the New Jersey Conference of Mayors and Mayor
Emeritus.
