In the Department of Toxicology students will learn the theory
and practice of the profession, which is grounded in the natural
and biomedical sciences. Through the study of theology, philosophy
and the humanities, graduates will understand the broad
implications of their professional expertise.
The program will prepare graduates
to:
- Develop the published research in toxicology math and science
necessary to broaden their knowledge in the field
- Demonstrate the application of fundamental competencies in
toxicology
- Demonstrate a fundamental competency in applied areas of
toxicology occupational, regulatory, risk analysis
- Perform laboratory exercises using modern techniques and
equipment
- Explain the missions of federal agencies involved in
advancement of public health related to chemical exposure (EPA,
FDA, CPSC, OSHA, etc.)
- Communicate risk effectively through oral presentations,
written communication, poster presentations, and web
presentations
